These Are The Top Five Best-Selling Cars Of 2019 (So Far)

Whilst the year’s not quite over yet, we already have a good idea of which cars have stolen the limelight. Here are the best-selling cars of 2019 so far…

The Latest Figures

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has now released the registration figures for the first six months of 2019. These are the top five best-selling of the year as it stands…

5. Nissan Qashqai – 29,215 Registrations

Whilst sales for the Qashqai are down by nearly 3%, it remains confidently in the top five best-selling cars. It’s the nation’s most popular crossover and has been for years; becoming a major sales success story for Nissan. It’s comfortable, practical and economical to run.

4. Vauxhall Corsa – 29,876 Registrations

Brits still love a Corsa, judging from the 7.48% increase in sales over the first half of 2019. It’s been around long enough to become a belt-selling staple, and Top Gear has even suggested that it can be considered a ‘genuine Ford Fiesta competitor.’

3. Volkswagen Golf – 31,385 Registrations

There are few cars as iconic as the Golf, it’s the definitive hatchback. Excellent cabin quality, generous amounts of space and a fantastic range of engines give it a mass-appeal. So it’s no surprise it’s secured third place in this list. However, registrations are down by a considerable 24.25%. Could T-Roc sales be cannibalising those of the Golf?

2. Ford Focus – 32,149 Registrations

It appears that Ford is benefiting from the Golf’s back-stepping, securing second place for the Focus. There’s not a lot to say about the Focus, other than it’s probably the most successful hatchback ever made. If you get one, it’s worth investing in the upper-specs.

1. Ford Fiesta – 43,379 Registrations

You can’t really ask for anything more from a supermini than what you get from the Fiesta. It looks great for its price, has an accessible drive and a sufficiently modern interior. It’s not at all surprising that it’s the best-selling car of the first half of 2019. Anyone who’s been on the road for more than an hour will note how prevalent the model is.
