The Autoserve Club is delighted to announce that Cotswold Friends has been awarded with the The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service…
Proud to Sponsor
At the Autoserve Club, we believe mobility should be accessible and affordable for all. Driving, after all, makes it significantly easier to access vital public services for people of a variety of backgrounds; something that’s especially important during the likes of the coronavirus pandemic. Which is why we’re proud to sponsor Cotswold Friends, a charity dedicated to helping older and vulnerable people in the North Cotswolds.
In particular, the charity has worked for over 40 years to combat loneliness and isolation, whilst supporting independent living and improving wellbeing.
Honoured with Award
Recently, Cotswold Friends was honoured with the The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service; the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK. The charity was nominated for the award by members of local communities. As a result, it’s due to receive a crystal award and certificate from Edward Gillespie OBE, Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, later this summer. In addition, all of its volunteers will receive a card and Queens Award and Cotswold Friends pin badges. Two volunteers will be also be offered the opportunity to attend a garden party at Buckingham Palace in May 2022.
The last 12 months have been particularly challenging for the charity’s 300+ volunteers, as many were forced to shield. Restrictions also meant that some isolated individuals the charity supports were especially vulnerable to loneliness and isolation. If you’d like to support the charity, or simply learn more, you can do so via their website here.
